I did not like the book because the title said THE DEVIL and his boy so the book should be scary. The book had no pictures at all, which always helps me imagine what was going on.

2. Tom is a kind little boy ad is an orphan, he finds the world outside his home gruesome and unpleasant. Even though Tom is treated badly he still has high morals. Mr and Mrs Slope are the owners of the Pigs Head (where Tom works!) They are both disfigured due to a disease. They are both liars and cheats also they are out for themselves. Ratsey is a murderous highway man once friends with Tom, but not after Tom had seen him commit murder. Moll Cutpurse is a pickpocket, who lives in London. Her personality changes after meeting her new friend Tom. Moll might be rough and tough on the outside but inside she has a big heart.

I would recommend this book to older children, ages 8 and above. I like this book as it has an unexpected twist with lots of gruesome descriptions of like in the 1500s.

This book is about Tom and how he finds his way to his grandmother. Tom's mother and father die, a couple Mr and Mrs Slope take him in but use him as slave labour. Meanwhile Queen Elizabeth is looking for her long lost godson. She sends a knight to find him, but Ratsey tries to rob Hawkins when he is on the way to the queen with Tom. He kills him, Tom goes on the run. He makes his way to London, with plenty of obstacles on the way. After watching a play and meeting Moll Cutpurse he takes an interest in acting, all thanks to William Shakespeare. His first job is a play called the Devil and his Boy. But this play turns out to a murderous plot to kill the queen. Tom saves the Queen but due to a misunderstanding Tom becomes dangerously close to being hung on the gallows. Ratsey and Moll join forces and save Tom. The Queen finds out who he is, he is safe but sadly they can never be together.

3. I think the devil and his boy is a brilliant book! It has lots of trouble and lots of dramatic scenes. This book is an adventure book, based in round about the 1600's in London.

I really enjoyed this book because of all the drama and trouble. Sadly the biggest disappointment was that Anthony Horowitz did not use many WOW or adjectives.

My favourite character was the Queen because she was really funny and causes a bit of a problem near the end.

4. This book was in my top 5 favourite books I have ever read! I would recommend this book to history lovers ... 

The Devil and His Boy I thoroughly enjoyed. I particularly liked when the book was set. In Year 5 we studied the Tudors so I remembered a few of the facts that were written in the book about that time period. 

My favourite character in the book is Moll Cutpurse. Moll was a real pick pocket in the 16-century and Anthony Horowitz used her in the book. 

The history in the book was realistic as characters from the Tudors were transformed into the book. The book made me want to read more books by Anthony Horowitz. 

The book made me want read more, I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to poor Tom and if he
could escape from Ratsey and if he could face his fear of acting in front of everyone.

The ending cheered me up! As you know in Tudor times a lot of people were beheaded and all the horrible people Tom
met were on sticks on London Bridge!!!!!!
