My Brother's Keeper
By Tom and Tony Bradman
1. I enjoyed reading this amazing book because it was really interesting to see how it felt and what it would have looked like to be alive during World War One. The book was realistic because the authors described how terrifying the war would be.
This book was about a boy named Alfie Barnes who was a soldier at the age of 15. He wanted to be in the army and fight for his country. Alfie's mum was worried when Alfie joined the army but his dad was proud to have such a brave son. Alfie had three friends in the army; George, Cyril and Ernie. George was full of jokes, Cyril was big and fair and his friend Ernie was a worrier. In his training camp he had three commanders to lead them and his favourite was Captain Wilkins. Captain Wilkins was a toff and softly spoken, who was sadly killed by snipers. Alfie was then sent by Sergeant Jones to pass the information on to Colonel Craig. The Colonel was sad to hear Captain Wilkins had died and needed to place another soldier to do the job. Alfie, desperate to see and get involved in action, was looking forward to who it could be...

2. I chose My Brother's Keeper because I had nothing to read and I was desperately looking for a book. Nothing I found really made me want to read it but the blurb on this one made me want to read it. When I had read the first page I was sort of regretting choosing it but when I had read the first two chapters I was really enjoying it.
This book is about a boy called Alfie Barnes, who joined
the army at fifteen. In my life I have read lots of amazing books, but by far this has been the best.
When I read a book I always look for: good language, good long, expressive sentences and a good story line. This book
covered it all.
I always recommend a good book and this is a really good book.
I deeply recommend this book.
