Writing guidance

The essay has long been seen as the main assessment of learning in history. This may have been true in the past, but today many universities are broadening the range of assessments used. However, the essay or extended written task is still widely used and to be a historian you need to be able to write effectively. Your ability to set out your argument and then effectively argue your case supported by evidence in an essay or piece of writing is something that you will develop further at university.
