  • Applied Archaeology: From Historical Development to Sustainable Development. Presented at TAG Deva, the 40th Theoretical Archaeology Group Conference, 17-19th December 2018, University of Chester. Professor Cornelius Holtorf, Professor of Archaeology UNESCO Chair on Heritage Futures at Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. This is a lecture that can be used to get students of history and ancient history thinking about how the humanities can help to address societal challenges and sustainable development goals, with a focus on archaeology.

  • Hidden Narratives of Medieval Art by Dr Katherine Wilson - This talk explores the hidden narratives behind medieval artworks, revealing that far from reflecting their owners’ power and status, these objects conveyed the uncertainty of everyday life and the fragility of princely rule during the Middle Ages.

  • An Expert Explains…German Jews’ Experience of World War One by Professor Tim Grady - This short video delves deeper than the national histories surrounding the First World War to shed light on the Jewish individuals who served Germany in the conflict. It provides a useful overview of key issues for students interested in modern history and the social history of conflict.

  • An Expert Explains… Hidden Narratives Behind Medieval Art by Dr Katherine Wilson - A short video discussing the hidden meanings within the The Arnolfini Portrait.  This can be used to help students understand how to use art as a primary source and the different approaches one can take to help understand medieval history.

  • History Schools Network - These resources are intended for independent study by Years 12 and 13. They are based on our undergraduate curriculum at King’s but have been adapted for pre-university learners. The materials will be useful for Y13 students seeking to prepare themselves to study History at university, and for Y12 students interested in getting a sense of what university-level study in History is like. Each resource consists of a PowerPoint presentation with audio commentary, and a worksheet that highlights key terms and concepts, offers questions for thinking and writing, and suggests a range of further reading and online research activities.
