This issue's problem: Fred North treats ‘Assessment for Learning' as though it is a bolt-on extra unconnected to his learning objectives
Fred is an enthusiastic trainee who has generally made a good impression on students and colleagues over the course of his first term. He has been determined to establish a strong presence in the classroom and has worked hard to develop regular classroom routines and to demonstrate consistency in using the school's behaviour management policy. Since this determination has been combined with strong sporting interests that mean he is already helping to coach one of the school teams, he seems to be building very productive working relationships with students.
Unfortunately, the effectiveness of his classroom routines and Fred's sense that effective lessons are essentially based on following a successful pattern mean that he is paying inadequate attention to what students are actually learning...
