Romans and Greeks
At Key Stage 2, pupils should study the Roman Empire. However, the emphasis of the National Curriculum is upon the Roman Empire's impact upon Brittain. Examples of the kinds of things you could study include Julius Caesar’s attempted invasion of Britain in 55-54 BC, the Roman Empire by AD 42 and the power of its army, the successful invasion by Claudius and the conquest of Britain, including Hadrian’s Wall, British resistance to Roman rule, for example, Boudicca, the ‘Romanisation’ of Britain, key Roman sites in Britain such as Caerwent and Roman culture and beliefs, including early Christianity.
