Celestial Revolution
During the past four centuries, the processes of nature have come to be viewed in a new light through the progressive acquisition of the systematized, verifiable knowledge that we call science. The associated advances in technology have profoundly affected the circumstances of our daily lives, and have revolutionised the mutual relations of states and of classes. The conviction is gaining ground that the traditional historical discipline of the schools fails to give due weight to the part which the scientific movement has played in shaping the destinies and the thoughts of men. Not a few professional historians are now disposed to devote to this factor in the growth of Western civilisation some of the attention that they have hitherto concentrated almost exclusively upon the political and economic aspects of the process.
