Support your history students with free access to Pearson’s e-books
Are you aware that Pearson is currently offering UK Schools free access to many of their ebooks until the end of August? Once teachers have gained access to these student-facing materials, you can then share them with your students to use at home. Included are Exploring History for KS3, core, foundation-level and revision books for Edexcel GCSE and student books for Edexcel A level student books. Centre for Holocaust Education
Centre for Holocaust Education have published a number of self-directed or guided online materials for KS3 students including:
- Resistance and the Holocaust - 3 online lessons designed to encourage students to explore their own existing understandings of resistance and helps them consider how our expectations of people during the Holocaust measure up to the realities. The aim is for students to acquire a better understanding of Jewish agency and action during the Holocaust.
- The struggle to survive: resilience and survival in the Warsaw Ghetto - a lesson that helps young people explore the horrific conditions of the ghetto using primary sources to uncover how the Jewish population incarcerated there struggled to survive relying extensively on self-help aid and smuggling. It also demonstrates remarkable evidence of resilience and resistance shown by Jews as they continued to pursue in secret religious life and Jewish education. Through this lesson the myth of Jews being passive in the face of the Holocaust is challenged.
