Soul of the Deep

I really enjoyed Soul of the Deep as it intertwines YA fantasy with African history, mythology and culture. This period of history I only knew little about, but this book opened my eyes to other aspects of it. Furthermore, my favourite part of this book is the mythology in which it is steeped in especially the creatures, for example the Ninki Nanka. Also, I learned a lot about the culture including the water drummers which prompted me to do some more research into this intricate part of African culture. In my opinion the plot was great in this book, and I loved the conclusion, it really brought the book to a lovely close. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book which expertly weaves fantasy and history together.
