By Chloe Rodgerson
Target audience: GCSE teachers of Paper 3: The USA, Conflict at Home and Abroad 1954–1975
From this resource, students will understand the local context of the civil rights movement in the United Kingdom through exploration of similarity and difference. This resource is an independent learning project built for the GCSE unit Paper 3: The USA, Conflict at Home and Abroad 1954–1975, with the potential to be adapted for Key Stage 3. The resource compares bus boycotts in Bristol and the American Deep South, British and American Black Panther Parties and finally British and American reactions to Martin Luther King. Each includes audio-visual resources from the BBC that expose students to primary source material.
