The National Curriculum asks for a study of the Anglo-Saxons and Scots as well as a separate unit on the Vikings and the struggle for control of England. As a great deal of Anglo-Saxon and Viking history as it pertains to the British Isles is intertwined, for ease, we have grouped resources relating to both Anglo-Saxons and Vikings into one page. 

Examples of the kinds of things you might study are the fall of the western Roman Empire, the Scots invasions from Ireland to north Britain (now Scotland), Anglo-Saxon invasions, settlements and kingdoms: place names and village life, Anglo-Saxon art and culture, Christian conversion and important places such as Canterbury, Iona, Winchester and Lindisfarne, Viking raids and invasion, resistance by Alfred the Great and others, Danelaw and Danegeld, Anglo-Saxon laws and justice, Cnut, Edward the Confessor and his death in 1066.
