Why is the Meeting House a significant place in the history of Claverham?
By Fern Hunt
Target age range: Key Stage 1
This is a six-lesson enquiry aimed at Key Stage 1 and based on exploring the history of a local building and determining its significance to the local area. It uses a Friends’ Meeting House as an example and guides teachers through how to uncover and explore the history of a local building with their class. The enquiry includes support with how to carry out a visit to a historically significant building and introduces pupils to using a range of source material. It provides significant places criteria to guide pupils in determining the historical significance of a building within their own locality.
