Project to be delivered 2nd half of autumn term 2011 and January 2012.

Information about the project to schools week ending Friday 14th October.

Workshop One

Drama and history workshop on the chain industry and The Women Chain Makers' Strike Of 1910. The idea of the project is that pupils explore how ordinary people's campaigns have change lives and discover their local heritage. They will have the opportunity to explore maps of the area from 1910 and look at the diverse occupations of people in the area from post office directories of the 19th and 20th Centaury.

By the end of workshop one the pupils must have chosen a subject upon which to construct a campaign in their school which affects them today, this could be Road safety, Anti Bullying, etc.

Through drama and a variety of campaigning techniques pupils will create their own campaign and evaluate their success. This will continue to take place in the school after the end of the workshop with teachers guiding pupils in their work.

Workshop 2.

Pupils will complete an evaluation of the whole project and give their own opinions on the teaching of history in schools today.

There will be opportunity for the pupils to discuss, display and explain their work on their own campaign. Followed by a final piece of drama work to conclude the story of The Women Chain Makers' Strike Of 1910.
