A key aspect of the role of the history coordinator is curriculum design, based around an enquiry approach, but developing effective enquiries that enable independent learning and questioning is not easy. Effective historical enquiry depends upon good subject knowledge, a good range of evidence and a question that provides an element of controversy or hypothesis.
