I love this book.I love to solve mysteries and this book is just the perfect one.I really enjoyed reading this book.This book turned me into a detective and I loved solving it out.I can’t believe that this book was real and the father was put under threat.

I would recommend this book. This is especially great for people who like to solve mysteries.

Portraits and Poison is an awesome book that combines mystery, history, and a cool setting in Georgian London. It’s perfect for people who enjoy thrilling mystery stories with a touch of education. The main characters, Belle and Lizie, are based on real historical figures but the story is fictional. Belle, born to a Royal Navy Captain and an African woman, lives with her rich aunt and uncle in Kenwood House. Her uncle, who is Lord Chief Justice, made an important ruling against slavery. Belle’s best friend, Lizzie, grew up in a popular cafe and salon where people fought for the rights of African people. They make a great team, using their different skills to solve the mysteries of a stolen painting and poisoning. The book is fast-paced with short chapters and gives lots of historical details about famous artists, the Royal Academy, and power portraits. It also shows how greedy politicians try to protect their wealth. The author, J.T. Williams does a great job of highlighting Black history in England, and the illustrations by Simone Douglas are fantastic. I totally recommend Portraits and Poison to anyone who loves detective stories.
