Queen of Darkness

Freya's review
I decided to read this book because I was inspired by “Rotten Romans the movie” and wanted to learn more about Boudica. In YR4, when we were doing Celts and Romans, we were learning about relatives and I believed I might be Boudica’s relative. This made me excited for whenever we were doing topic work. My favourite character was Garwen [The queens body servant] She is very strong and fierce, also she proves a lot of girl power. I look up to Garwen as a warrior and a woman. My least favourite character was Segovax, as he was mean and he put down the fact that girls are strong and clever too. I learnt that Boudica was a professional potion maker and she had two daughters called Tegan and Maeve. What stands out most, is the fact that he pushes forward the power of girls. I didn’t realise that women had so much power before the Romans conquered Britannia.
I would recommend this book as it is very exciting and you learn a lot about the Romans and the Celtic tribes.
I would give it a 9/10.
