England's Past for Everyone was a local history project run by the Victoria County History. Volunteers throughout the country worked alongside authors and researchers to produce a whole range of new resources. From a series of books to learning resources for schools, it sought to bring local history to life.
The EPE project was supported by a £3.3 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund alongside match funding from other partners. Begun in 1899, the Victoria County History is creating an encyclopaedic record of England's places and people, from earliest times to the present.
EPE has helped more people access their local history by:
- Publishing a series of paperback books
- Working with schools and other partners to provide local county resources
- Coordinating and supporting a series of volunteer programmes
