Remembrance Day (11 November) is an important time for children to learn about how we choose to both represent and remember significant events in the past. Within EYFS, learning about remembrance most obviously lends itself to Understanding the World – with a focus on children making connections between past and present, and on guiding them to make sense of special times when we come together as a community. However, a focus on remembrance can also be an effective way to develop children’s learning across all areas of the EYFS framework.
The following case studies, each presented by a different teacher, show four different approaches to teaching children in EYFS about Remembrance Day.
