HA News, Autumn 2023
Welcome to the autumn 2023 edition of HA News magazine
Your membership magazine
Welcome to this packed autumn edition of HA News, featuring a mixture of what we've been up to, what we're planning on doing and some history pieces just for you.
Dr Gabrielle Storey explores the history and importance of medieval coronations, former HA President Dr Anne Curry writes about her experiences as an English Herald at the Coronation of Charles III and we ask primary pupils their views on royalty.
Our 2023 Medlicott Medal winner Dr Diarmaid MacCulloch reminds us historians about the Church, and the Church about history in a summary of his recent Medlicott lecture. We also introduce our new HA president, Professor Alex Walsham, who provides her first president's letter and explains her particular historical interest in the Reformation.
There are competition updates and announcements, including Young Quills, Young Historian and Great Debate, which this year has a local history angle. There are also updates from our CEO and from our education and membership managers, as well as listings of upcoming HA and branch events.
We hope you will enjoy this edition. If you have any ideas for future HA activities or articles you would like to contribute to HA News, we'd love to hear from you on enquiries@history.org.uk.
