Virtual Branch Lecture Recording
In this Virtual Branch lecture Michael Wood returns to his popular territory of Early England 500-1066 using the lives of specific stories and individuals to cast light on the period. This lecture was recorded on the 9 July 2020 as part of the HA Virtual Branch and is available to all HA members.
In the talk he introduces key characters and texts that help to establish the cultural past of that time and also reveal to us what we know of it. These people included overlooked queens and also some of the men who travelled from other countries to bring learning and education to Britain. Amongst those that he mentioned was Hadrian the African, who was one of the men who played a key role in establishing Christianity in England and the British Isles. You can find a factsheet on Hadrian the African produced by Michael Wood through the link below.
