Awards, Fellowships & the Quality Mark
We have a number of highly-respected awards that seek to recognise outstanding history, whether it reflects a lifetime’s achievement and dedication to history as seen in our prestigious annual Medlicott Medal or a competition that engages young people in a particular aspect of history. Our awards currently cover:
- Teachers and schools – Quality Mark (Primary / Secondary) and Teacher Fellowships programmes
- Academic historians – the annual Medlicott Medal for Service to History which includes some of the UK’s finest historians.
- Historians amongst the community – Honorary Fellowships
- The Young Quills (Primary / Secondary) – annual awards for the writers of historical fiction for children. The short list is created by children themselves.
- The Great Debate – a biannual debating competition on an important question of history to create debate amongst those aged 16–19 years old.
